The end of the pool seems to drop into the jungle beyond. This is the view you first see on arrival at Tiger Rock & it is the picture that is left in your head as you leave. |

Tiger Rock - an island and jungle hideaway, is the stunning rustic island retreat of Rebecca and David Wilkinson, and their 3 children. Set in 12 acres of jungle and backing onto 200 acres of forest reserve the 2 houses are cocooned on slopes overlooking the sea and mainland. David designed the houses based on the traditional Malay wooden house and a colonial hill station house. Rebecca added all the creature comforts one could need and has surprised with unexpected color. Her paintings and artwork are found throughout the property.
Hill House has 4 guest wings with a central open sitting & dining area, & kitchen. The Main House is rented out as a whole. The Studio is set back, privately secluded from the Main House. The Pool House Chalet is a new room addition. The gorgeous Pool House overlooking the jungle is the central meeting place of Tiger Rock. Tiger Rock is truly a spectacular jungle hideaway!

We have had a busy summer with many guests from all over the world, and a lot more locally from Malaysia- which is great! Our tennis court is now ready. We had to really make sure the fencing was tough as the little herd of wild boars were congregating on it during the night- probably for warmth- but we do not need little hoof cuts in our surface! We are thrilled with it and guests can now play during the day or night for a minimal fee to cover equipment and night lighting. Tiger Rock's admin centre is also nearly complete, this is just next to the tennis court and it is from here that Mohan will be keeping tabs on paperwork and the accountant will be working! There has been plenty of rain lately mainly in the early hours of morning. It has brought the bamboo next to the court down, but it will all be lush again in a couple of months. Mohan and crew are busy planting up the area near the tennis court with gingers, bunga raya and other spice plants. I will be there over Hari Raya and pictures will be posted soon after. Our graceful boat Tiger Blue is now floating in Bira(in Makassar) Harbour, jauntily painted, and masts already on board for installation. I went down to Makassar to see her a couple of weeks ago and she is truly beautiful! I am now working on the paint finishes, kitchen fittings, furnishings etc. that will all give her a really unique personality. Our first trip is planned in March from Bali to Komodo and we will be training, cooking and setting up a base on board for all our guests to enjoy. I will let you know when the website is up and itineraries are ready. We hope to start trips in June. In Penang our China Tiger property is also coming along and we are hoping to take our first guests in April. China Tiger will be fantastic for all those wanting to really experience the heart of living in Old Georgetown. Bed and Breakfast in the 2 aprtments will be available. Walking maps, historical places of interest, traditional craft, businesses, retail shops and restaurant lists will all be provided and cars are available for touring the island of Penang. Come visit!

Inspired by Pirates!
Just watched the latest 'Pirates of the Carribbean!' and cannot help but get all excited by the way 'Tiger Blue' is coming along in Makassar. The decking is all starting to go in, we are ahead of schedule and they are hoping to get her in the water by September for the interior fit out. Cannot wait- designing our own flag now and dreaming of adventure on yonder seas already! I will be uploading a few pictures soon for you to check out how she is going.

Fire on Pangkor!
Last weekend a fire devastated 16 shophouses in Pangkor Village. Our trusty little mini market, our ikan bilis shop, pareo store and other souvenir shops all reduced to charred bits of wood. Fortunately no one was hurt. Our sympathies go out to all involved. Reconstruction is underway already and our Prime Minister is visiting as I type, to view the damage firsthand.

Tennis Court!
The construction of our new tennis court has started. It will be located under the bamboo grove at the entry to our property, at the start of the road leading up to Tiger Rock. Decisions on night lighting, fencing etc. all made. Guests can play this summer! We will also be constructing a proper office nearby which will be perfect for all Mohan's admin work, as well as for guests to get on line.
